NEW YORK, NY - Blue Apron is keeping its strategies hinged on growth, and its facilities are the latest key towards that goal. The company announced that it will be closing its New Jersey facility this year, moving its jobs to a new site in the same state.

Blue Apron released in a public statement that its current New Jersey facility will close by October of this year, with 1,270 jobs moving to the new site in Linden, New Jersey. According to Bloomberg, a company spokesman confirmed the upcoming move.

The new Linden facility will be the meal kit giant’s largest to date. The facility will span 500,000-square-feet, and will need around 2,000 workers when it opens later this year. The company intends to continue hiring for the facility after its opening, which will contain better automaton technology.

Blue Apron's new Linden facility will be the company's largest.

Blue Apron expects that over half of its employees at its current New Jersey facility will move to the new site. Bloomberg reported that 24 percent of the company’s workforce will be affected by the move.

New Jersey isn’t the only state getting a new Blue Apron facility, however. The company also plans to open a facility in Fairfield, CA, next year. This news also comes off a string of strategic announcements by the company, including its IPO, the acquisition of Niman Ranch, executive appointments, and new additions to its Board of Directors.
