AUKLAND, NEW ZEALAND - A global provider of integrated post-harvest solutions and services to the global fresh produce industry, Compac is still 30 years later hearing customers sing praises on its ability to provide quality and consistency for their operations. One such customer featured in a recent video case study on Compac’s website is snacking apple provider Rockit Apples.

Phil Alison, Managing Director, Rockit Apples. People are not going to want to buy a tube if there’s one single defect or problem. It’s internal quality of the product that actually sells, but also how it's presented.”

In the company’s branded tube packaging, Rockit provides small-sized, fresh, and pre-washed apples. Designed to be eaten as a snacking product, Rockit Apples feature a sweet flavor, thin skin, red blush, small core, and a crisp crunch. According to Compac Content Specialist, Matt Stillwell, in his blog post, Rockit Apple uses Compac sorting and grading technology to inspect and grade each apple. Compac’s products help ensure it meets the company’s standards and brand promise for what it packs into a Rockit tube.

“Our stuff is on shelves and in cafes, vending machines, airports, hotels, and its in our packaging, so everybody identifies Rockit as Rockit,” continues Erin Simpson, Facility Manager at Rockit Packing in Havelock North. “We had to make sure that the quality in the tube was as good as they possibly can get it. So I guess that’s one of the reasons why we went to the latest versions of the defects seal. That made a lot of sense for us from a cost perspective, but also from the fact that we could really dial in our unique specs to get what we wanted.”
