Gelson’s Markets Expands in Los Angeles, California, With Modern Store Format; John Bagan Comments
ENCINO, CA - Los Angeles, California, shoppers will soon be walking the aisles of a unique new grocery store. Reimagining what it calls “the Gelson’s experience,” Gelson's Markets has introduced a modernized store concept in West Los Angeles. With the addition of its 28th full-service store, the grocer has forged its entry into the burgeoning market.
"The demand has long existed for Gelson's in West L.A., and we are excited to be the grocery anchor in this new mixed-use development," said Gelson's President and Chief Executive Officer John Bagan. "We have carefully grown the Gelson's brand for more than seven decades. This is a long-awaited milestone for us which we look forward to celebrating with the local community."
The new store features a produce cutting and juicing section, as well as a robust floral department and self-serve salad bar. Other features of the store include a serviced deli, meat, and seafood section, hot food bar, and cheese section.
The modernized-format store is designed by the award-winning firm Shook Kelley, which has brought its imagination to other new and renovated Gelson's stores, a press release explained. Decorated with a modern design and community-tailored amenities, the 33,000-square-foot space is accented with geometric metal shapes, light wood slats, and an abundance of playful wall art.
