Rainier Fruit Company and Clifford Produce
Rainier has just hit the second peak for its premium late Summer
cherry season. The company has finished up Rainiers and Bings and is
now harvesting Sweethearts and Skeenas. Rainier, which grows in
Washington, is currently harvesting from border to border and supply
and volume are great. Suzanne Wolter, Director of Marketing, tells
AndNowUKnow, "For retailers, it is the perfect time to market for
second peak cherries. There will be three solid weeks of great
promotions, campaigns, in-store tastings, and increased sales."
Regardless of a punishing heat wave and the most challenging market
conditions in over 15 years, Clifford Produce has entered the peak
season with good quality and excellent supplies on all hot house
categories, including cucumbers, beef steak tomatoes, mini cucumbers,
TOV's and sweet bell peppers. Clifford Produce operates 130 acres of
greenhouse in the Leamington, Ontario area. Tony Coppola, Sales
Manager, told us that "Despite fighting a poor market all year,
quality and supply are right on track."
