International Fresh Produce Association's Mollie Van Lieu Set to Emcee at Food as Medicine Summit; Lauren M. Scott Comments
WASHINGTON, DC & NEWARK, CE - An upcoming discussion will highlight a valuable opportunity for the healthcare and food industries as International Fresh Produce Association’s (IFPA) Vice President of Nutrition and Health Mollie Van Lieu will emcee the Food as Medicine Summit, which takes place in Chicago, Illinois, from May 25–26. The two-day conference will focus on embedding Food as Medicine in the food and health systems on both a national and global level.
“The concept of Food as Medicine is growing traction throughout the country and has the potential to be revolutionary in how we address dietary quality including access to fruit and vegetables,” said Van Lieu. “As we navigate what Food as Medicine means in policy and practice, effective collaboration will be key. The Food as Medicine Summit is a fantastic opportunity to bring a broad range of stakeholders to the table to drive this concept forward."
The event will be held both in person and online and will facilitate commercial, scientific, and collaboration conversations for food and beverage and healthcare, a press release noted.
Some of the speakers for the event include experts from Ocean Spray Cranberries, Kroger, and Walmart as well as the American Health Association, Feeding America, Spectrum Health, Sunbasket, Conagra, Tufts University, and more.
“Food as medicine has been practiced for a millennium, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the growing coalition between leaders in food and the health industry,” said IFPA Chief Strategy Officer, Lauren M. Scott. “We thank GreyGreen for holding the event but especially for inviting Mollie to provide Chair remarks each day. With her extensive background in advocacy for nutrition policy, she will be well-positioned to begin the conversations at the summit.”
