Several Storms Projected to Shower All California Regions Throughout Remainder of December

CALIFORNIA - It looks like the dry conditions of December are coming to an end for much of the Golden State this week, with precipitation expected from now through the New Year.

As rain pelts Sacramento on this Monday morning, the San Francisco Chronicle reports multiple storm systems are expected to deliver 2 to 5 inches of rain in San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, and San Diego through Friday.

Weather Mission reports a chance of light to moderate showers through Tuesday night with rain totals in the 1 to 3 inch range, with another system piggy-backing off it to bring an additional ½ to 1 inch of rain to the Salinas and Bay areas of California. The second low-pressure system is reported to bring light to moderate showers through the end of the week, with high pressure returning Christmas Eve Sunday, allowing the area to dry out. Following Christmas Day, December 25, a third system may arrive Tuesday and turn the pattern rainy again through the end of the year.

A system of wet weather is expected to hit California, which could bring more than 3 inches of precipitation to Salinas and the Bay Area

As for Southern California, rainfall increases as soon as today will spread south into the Los Angeles area and east into the Sierra Nevada for the first rain and snow of the month. Los Angeles hasn't had measurable rain since mid-November, while snow totals could reach 6 to 12 inches in the higher Sierra, according to Fox Weather.

The Bay Area and central California could see some small hail and heavy downpours, triggering localized areas of flash flooding, and thunderstorms. Early projections have the second storm of this week concentrating its rain on the southern half of the state, showering the Los Angeles and Southern California region from Thursday into Friday, eventually spreading into the desert and Southwest over Christmas weekend.

The outlook is currently likely that travel will be more affected than transportation, however, AndNowUKnow will continue to report any potential updates to the fresh industry.
