BAKERSFIELD, CA - Here in California, it’s almost time to pull out our bathing suits, flip-flops, and barbecues for relaxing time spent by the pool or fun days at the beach. As warmer weather moves in, Grimmway Farms is helping its retail partners and their shoppers enjoy the summer with fresh carrots to snack on all season.

Eric Proffitt, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Grimmway Farms“Grimmway Farms is focused on a seamless transition of carrot production from the deserts in California to Bakersfield,” explains Eric Proffitt, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We have had strong supplies of quality organic and conventional carrots through the winter. Our winter desert crop’s high quality and duration have enabled the spring Bakersfield crop to mature fully.”

Although wet weather earlier in the year caused complications for several carrot plantings, Grimmway anticipates the incoming warm weather to accelerate the growth of crops and minimize any potential gaps. Overall, the grower expects excellent quality and good sizing to supply its customers throughout spring and summer.

Retailers will have access to promotable volumes, which they can promote to shoppers to encourage them to add the crunch, color, and flavor of baby carrots to all their summer activities. Data from Numerator revealed that consumer demand for baby carrots remained strong over the last 52 weeks, with a household penetration above 56 percent and increased average annual spend on the product.

David Bright, Vice President of Marketing, Grimmway Farms“When analyzing data from Circana, we also noticed accelerating demand for carrot chips in the 13 weeks ending April 23, up 7.3 percent in volume from the same period last year,” noted David Bright, Vice President of Marketing. “Volume increases for carrot chips were solid in the Southeast and the West regions of the United States. They are a healthy alternative to potato and tortilla chips and pair well with any dip.”

Adding to the summer fun theme, Grimmway Farms’ rainbow carrot chips are an easy way to grab shoppers’ attention as they add a burst of color to any plate, appealing to kids and adults alike. Retailers can also cross-merchandise ingredients like oil and seasonings to show consumers an easy way to bake carrot chips in the air fryer for a crispy treat. Cal-Organic Farms Organic Carrot Chips and Dips are another convenient, delicious, and easy-to-promote combo that is perfect for shoppers on the go.

The summer is a time for fun in the sun and carefree relaxation, and Grimmway Farms has excellent products to make seasonal snacking easy and healthy.
