Walmart recently opened a Neighborhood Market in San Jose’s Evergreen district, providing jobs for roughly 90 people.

"We have had a very positive response to the news that we were opening this store," said Delia Garcia, a spokeswoman for Walmart, according to the Mercury News.

"The existing tenants really see this as a store that will be a benefit to them and provide them with more exposure to customers," Garcia said.Walmart's 41,000 square foot grocery store in Evergreen is the second such Walmart market to open in San Jose. In October, a Walmart Neighborhood market opened in southwest San Jose in a former Safeway store.

The location will provide locally produced fruits and vegetables, fresh breads, meats and cheeses, prepared foods, and include a full-service deli. It will also offer pet products, hardware, and party supplies."We have been working to bring a grocery store anchor back to Evergreen Village Square," said Kelly Erardi, a vice president with Shapell Properties, the principal owner of the shopping center. "Walmart has stepped up to fill the void."
