OXNARD, CA - In our industry, seeing a field of green gives a sense of belonging and ambition, whether that is out in the produce fields or on the golf course. For Mission Produce, the two go hand in hand, as it recently hosted its much-anticipated ninth annual philanthropic golf tournament.

Steve Barnard, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mission Produce“We’re grateful for the impressive turnout this year and to be able to bring the tradition back to our people and sponsors,” said Steve Barnard, Chief Executive Officer and Founder. “Fun is our first core value, and events like this help us connect with our industry and give back to our local communities while staying true to our values.”

The avo and mango provider hosted its annual golf tournament at the Moorpark Country Club in Moorpark, California, in support of The Mission Foundation, which gives 100 percent of revenue back to local charities, including the Ventura College Foundation Chappy Morris Scholarship Fund and Interface Children & Family Services.

Mission Produce recently hosted its much-anticipated ninth annual philanthropic golf tournament and donated all $125K raised from 38 sponsors to local charities

This year, Mission raised $125K from 38 sponsors, many of whom have sponsored from the very beginning. The 3-course, 27-hole tournament hosted multiple winners for the day with the tournament winners being:

  • 1st Place – Pablo’s Produce
  • 2nd Place – BM2 Freight Services
  • 3rd Place – Gibbs International

With much of our industry keeping a safe distance, the tournament was a welcome gathering out in the open as 208 participants came together from both the U.S. and Canada. Following the tournament, Mission hosted a banquet with raffles, prizes, and recognition of the day’s top performers.

“We want to thank all of our sponsors and teams for coming out for a day of fun to raise money for local charities,” added Barnard.
