UFCW: Reaches Tentative Agreement With Southern California Stores
Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union announced it had reached a tentative agreement with Ralphs (Kroger), Vons (Safeway) and Albertsons (Supervalu) in Southern California. The agreement was reached after an eight month period of negotiations, involvement and activism from grocery workers.
With dedicated workers and backing from customers and supporters across Southern California, the tentative agreement succeeded in achieving a new proposal. The contract, once ratified will cover 62,000 UFCW grocery workers, 28,000 grocery workers at chains like Stater Brothers, Food 4 Less, Gelson’s Market and other markets. Under the guidance of Scot Beckenbaugh, Deputy Director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services the bargaining process achieved the agreement.
