Grow Farms' Tommy Wilkins Discusses Tropical Storm Hanna
DONNA, TX - Last week, Tropical Storm Hanna traveled from the Gulf of Mexico to Texas, bringing with it heavy rains, flooding, and strong coastal winds. In the wake of the weather event, I reached out to Grow Farm, Texas’ Tommy Wilkins, to see how the company fared.
“One of our roofs was severely damaged by wind, which led to water coming into our offices. We transferred our product to a new location and have already settled in. Out of precaution for our employees, we are looking at how much structural damage was done to our building,” the Director of Sales and Business Development explained to me. “We were fortunate that Mark Santos and TransKool Solutions [which offers warehousing services] opened its facility and worked nearly 24 hours to get us moved in. We will be here until engineers get a handle on our structure.”
Tommy’s candor is always appreciated, as is his ability to look to the positives in a negative situation such as this.
“Our team really came together with TransKool to make the move a positive transition,” he shared. “The culture in Rio Grande Valley is resilient and we are blessed to have ownership that cares for its team members and customers. As always, we are here to service our growers and retail and foodservice partners.”
AndNowUKnow will continue to keep an eye out for more news as it pertains to Hanna.
